Please continue to lift up our Brother Tom Dooley in prayer. Here is a new update from his wife Melanie Dooley. "Today was Tom's first appointment with the radio oncologist. He has been very apprehensive and anxious about the radiation treatments. We had two pastor friends and Tom's uncle accompany us to the appointment to encourage Tom and pray with him. God came through! It was very difficult for Tom, but God gave him the peace to follow thru with the treatment. We thanked Tom for doing it and told him we loved him and how very proud we were of him.
We were able to review the most recent MRI with the oncologist. It showed that there are still loose cancer cells in Tom's brain. There is also a small spot that appears to have not been there before. We're praying and hoping that treatment will reduce and eliminate any remaining cancer. Tom will continue radiation and chemotherapy treatments for the next six weeks. Please pray that Tom doesn't have many side effects.
I've had a lot of questions about Tom's paralysis. When we were told his left side was paralyzed, we were also told there's not a straight line dividing his left side and that everything on the left would be paralyzed. His left shoulder and arm are completely paralyzed. His left leg is also paralyzed. However, his left hip flexor still has movement that allows him to lift his leg. Tom's doctor confirmed for me yesterday that Tom's paralysis is, except for the grace of God, permanent.
Thank you for all your encouragement. It has helped Tom and me get through some really difficult days. All we've had to do is open this Caring Bridge website for encouragement. No words can express our gratefulness for you standing with us. Please know we feel very undergirded by your love and support.
